Mt Bromo Ijen Crater Kalibaru Sukamade and Surabaya Adventure Tour | 6 Days 5 Night

Mount Bromo, is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. It is the most well-known attraction. The Ijen volcano complex is a group of stratovolcanoes, in East Java, Indonesia. It is inside an enormous caldera Ijen, which is about 20 kilometers wide. Meru Betiri National Park covers 580 square kilometers of eastern Java. It receives few tourists as accessibility is very difficult, and the drive is a long bumpy trip, even by 4WD. But this National Park is the best place for visitors who don’t want to be a regular tourist.

Travel itinerary
Day 01. Arrival Surabaya – Bromo Area (D)
Upon arrival at Surabaya airport, meeting service and then direct transfer to Bromo (about 2,5 hours). En route passing Mud Volcano at Sidoarjo, which destroyed thousands of houses, terraced rice and sugar cane fields. Then check in to the hotel for overnight.

Day 02. Mt Bromo Sunrise & Penanjakan Peak Tour – Ijen Area (B/L/D)
Very early morning, we start the Mt. Bromo tour through a transfer to Cemara Lawang village. Then we descend the steep slope of Mt. Tengger, crossing the sea-of-sand, and climbing up 245 steps to reach the impressive rim crater where like other tourists wait for the sunrise cracking up the day through its rays from the eastern range of Mt. Tengger. From here, we cand observe the marvelous views of Mt. Bromo and its surroundings (subject to the weather).
After enjoying the sunrise back to the hotel to have breakfast. Next, we stop by to visit Madakaripura Waterfall (if the weather is permitted), a 150m high of a waterfall which believed as a meditation place of The Supreme Gajahmada (High Minister of Majapahit Emperor on 13 Century AC) before continuing our trip to Ijen Area. Lunch at local restaurant & Dinner at the hotel.

Day 03. Ijen Crater Trekking – Kalibaru (B/L/D)
Early in the morning around 02h00, start Ijen (2,400 m) Excursion. We drive to Paltuding, the last monitoring station, from which you supposed to take a-3 km trek to the crater. This volcano offers a savannah landscape, ruggedly beautiful panoramas, grand hiking, and a placid, brightly yellow crater-lake. The summit of Mt. Ijen is a gorgeous crater filled with a haunting turquoise-blue lake with its surface streaked in the wind blow patterns of yellow sulfur vapor. By the crater lake edge, there is an evil-smelling sulfur where local people are digging and carrying 70-80 kgs on their bare shoulders for 2 miles ascending and descending steep Mt. Ijen wall.
Upon completion, transfer to the Kalibaru, passing a dense tropical rain forest. Lunch is included. Arriving at Kalibaru, join a mini plantation tour featuring coffee and cacao and tropical spices. Stay overnight at a homestay.

Day 4. Kalibaru – Sukamade (B/L/D)
After a simple breakfast at the homestay, transfer to Sukamade with lunch en-route. Along the way, you may see endless plantation of coffee, cacao, and traditional rubber tapping. You may even travel through dense Meru Betiri National Forest, where the last Javanese tigers are still believed to roam the area. Stay overnight at simple Sukamade Guesthouse. After a simple dinner at the guesthouse, proceed to the Sukamade beach for the turtle excursion (sightings are not guaranteed). See the turtles slowly walk up ashore to lay their eggs. Then back to the guesthouse for overnight.

Day 5. Sukamade – Transfer to Surabaya (B/L/D)
After a simple breakfast at the guesthouse, take a guided inspection to the factory next to the guesthouse to have a closer look at spices, coffee, cacao, and rubber processing. Next, transfer out to back to Surabaya for check-in at hotel & overnight. Lunch & Dinner is included at a local restaurant.

Day 6. Transfer out – Departure (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, free time until check-out time and transfer to Surabaya Airport for taking a return/onward flight. End of tour.
